This afternoon the Tour de France retraced one of the routes that David & Don Fried took during their two-month trek through the Alps. On pages 134-135 of Ups & Downs, David & Don describe their trip from Vers l’Eglise to Aigle, in which Don planted his trekking pole in the side of a car that sped past him with 12 inches to spare. This same section of road made up a tiny portion of Stage 15 of the Tour de France, from Pontarlier to Verbier. Read the excerpt from Ups & Downs here.
Who knew when we started this journey that we would be influencing one of the great athletic events of all time?
